After working four years in Southeast Asia and the Far East, Jonathan Chu returned to his hometown of Los Angeles looking for the authentic tastes of Asia he enjoyed throughout his travels. Chu envisioned a unique restaurant that would provide an eclectic selection of his favorite Pan-Asian foods at an affordable price that would woo both fans of Asian cuisine and the uninitiated alike. With his friend and business partner Evan Silver, they recruited renowned Executive Chef Hisashi Yoshiara and opened Buddha's Belly in early December 2002.
With more than forty years restaurant experience between them, Buddha's Belly has been a success since its opening. Inside the Feng Shui-designed restaurant, guests can enjoy a "culinary trip across Asia", a full take-out menu, and off and on-premise catering.
